Services For Neurologic Patients In Need

Therapeutic Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive treatment that involves applying magnetic fields to specific brain regions to to treat certain brain problems, most commonly depression. Its durable benefit for depression has been demonstrated in Phase III trials. Dr. Frank is a unique treater applying this technology based on:

  • his extensive neurological expertise
  • his hands-on approach to the pretreatment comprehensive medical and neurological evaluation
  • designing the treatment approach tailored to each individual patient
  • the clinical monitoring of the patient during the treatment period
Patients are referred to Dr. Frank, specifically, for this treatment by specialists in psychiatry, psychology, social work, counseling, internal medicine,  and family practice. Patient can also self-referral to Dr. Frank

Complex neurological consultations

Patients with complex neurological problems typically require extra time and care coordination. Typically, these patients have already been evaluated by at least one other neurologist and/or neurosurgeon and are seeking a neurologist who is willing to spend more time to better understand the problem and more coherently guide its management, tailored to the patient’s unique situation and needs. Dr. Frank and his team frequently host patients from long distances (including international patients) for these consultations.

Post neurological injury consultations

After suffering any type of neurological injury (or illness) that typically requires hospitalization and, often, rehabilitation, patients can be left with many unaddressed issues and unanswered questions. Although neurologists may have been part of the early hospitalization, patients become too often become disconnected from neurological specialists as they face the challenges of recovery. Dr. Frank focuses an important segment of his practice on these patients with the goals to:

  • review all of the details of the injury
  • assure proper diagnosis and management (to prevent recurrence and optimize recovery)
  • minimize unnecessary medications
  • consider alternative approaches to care
  • thoughtfully consider the specifics of the patient’s neurological injury to be sure that all members of the healthcare team are considering them as they approach the patient’s wellness and recovery.

As part of this process, Dr. Frank employs a method he developed called retro-localization analysis.

Routine neurological consultations

Although Dr. Frank is known near and far for his unique ability to care for the most challenging neurological patients, he also cares for those with more straightforward neurological problems with his prototypical blend of experience, intensity, and compassion. These patients will often be referred to him by another physician, but patients may also self-refer.

Neurological crisis consultations

Neurological crisis consultations are available for patients with acute and potentially disabling and/or life-threatening neurological problems or complications who require urgent guidance. These consultations are usually sought when the patient’s loved ones fail to have full confidence in the medical care or require any extra step to build confidence in the treating medical team. Dr. Frank and his team participate in these consults – often traveling to remote regions of the world – to help patients in crisis in a way that is culturally sensitive, non-threatening to the treating physicians, and make a real difference for the patient and his/her loved ones.
